Junk In The Trunk

Hi everyone! I hope you all enjoyed your holiday! I definitely missed blogging everyday but time just didn't permit. My days felt like just a couple of hours.

This is one of the dresses from the one of three posts I did in December. It was "free" with a coupon code. Click here to read more.

In my post I there was a poll, I needed opinions on whether I should have the hem shortened. There was an overwhelming YES! Well, because of my "junk in the trunk" it is actually a perfect fit hitting mid-knee (about an inch shorter than it is on the model). I knew this booty was good for something. LOL! I will have to get the other dress tailored but like this one, it fits a little shorter than on the model.

Funky Printed Dress: Chadwick's - $18
Gold Scarf: Walmart - $5
Grey Tights: George - $5
Black Boots: Liz Claiborne - $30

Total Estimated Cost: $58

Yawner In More Ways Than One

Today's outfit was a yawner but I was really comfy and lately that's all that matters! I've been exhausted for the past few weeks. I've been trying to get into bed earlier but somehow I can think of fifty million other things to do besides sleep. I think I'll just have to force myself in bed by 10 p.m.

Pink Sparkly Shrug: H&
M - $10
Black 3/4 Sleeve T: Merona - $
7
Grey Skirt: Banana Republic (Thrifted) - $2

Estimated Cost: $59

Don't leave yet! There's more.

Earlier this week my husband broke to me that he would be traveling to cover a D3 football game on Saturday. Bummer. Well today he kindly let me know that one of his co-workers got him tickets to the Eagles game on Sunday (if you read my post on our family portraits, you know my husband is a HUGE Eagles fan) and because he's off Saturday he has to work tomorrow which is usually his day off.

Last year our deal was when he traveled and I was home alone all weekend, I got a new pair of shoes. Since I've traveled with him a lot this year, I never had the need to bring up our previous agreement. Well, well, well today was the day!...For this special occasion, I negotiated my way into TWO pair of new shoes with an $80 budget. Not bad. The perfect opportunity to find the brown pumps I've been wanting forever.

Nine West had their Buy One Get One 50% OFF sale and I also had a 20% OFF coupon. As long as I stayed within my budget getting an extra pair is fine, right? My total was $83. Woot, woot!

When I got home my husband said, "That's ridiculous that you bought three pairs of shoes in the same color!" Men just don't get it!

It's All A Blur

Has this week been a blur or is it just me? It's already Thursday! I've been so busy this week the days have just run together. I didn't even get a chance to take a pic yesterday, I had a breakfast meeting and had to be at the venue at 7:15 and then I worked until 6:30. Luckily, I'm off tomorrow (OK after my 9 a.m. meeting I'm off) and will be able to spend the day with my husband and sis-in-law who's visiting from Seattle. Shopping is definitely on the agenda :0) I have City Cash to use and I am still in search of the perfect pair of brown pumps!

Congrats Obama!

I'm still in shock about the outcome of the Presidential election. Definitely not in a bad way! I think it's awesome that we all had the chance to live in this moment of history. We now have something to tell our grandchildren about, the days leading up to the election and our feelings during and after the results. EXCITING!

My husband works for the Washington Post and they have run out of papers and had a line out the door and down the block all day. I had a couple of requests from friends wanting me to ask my husband to grab a paper for them. He works at the joint and can't get a paper!

Since I had to work late tonight I wanted to be comfy.

Hip Hip Hooray, it's Getting Cold!

I'm so excited that it's cold enough to wear boots! It won't last very long (it's supposed to be back up to 80 on Sunday) but, it was cold and rainy today so, I took full advantage. The heel on the boots really wasn't what I was looking for, too short, but I fell in love with the detail on the side!

Since it was my Friday, I threw in a touch of denim.

Family Portraits: Go Eagles!

We've been wanting to get family portraits taken since the kids were tiny babies but, the studios in our area are really expensive. I got a call from my mom earlier this week asking if my family would like to do a photo shoot. One of the newest employees at her company is also a photographer. She needed models for her website and we wouldn't have to pay for anything. WINNER!

When my husband and I discussed family portraits in the past he said, "The only way we can dress alike is if we all wear Eagles jerseys." So, we did half of the shoot in our jerseys (notice I had to jazz mine up just a bit with the pearls) and the other half in plain white shirts. We had so much fun! Our back drop was Leesylvania State Park in VA, how cool! I'll be sure to post the pics when we get them back!
