The Slackers Back!

Hi ya! It looks like I took a vacation for the summer, and didn't even realize it. Boy does time fly! I hope all of you have been doing well.

As usual, I've been up to a few things. I just recently became an Independent Jewelry Advisor for lia sophia, so you will begin seeing me wearing some awesome pieces. I chose lia sophia because I wanted a little extra spending cash. Earn extra money + chance to earn free jewelry on a monthly basis = my kind of side gig ;) I was also impressed with their Lifetime Replacement Guarantee. Once I get my website up and running, I will be sure to share that with you all. For now, click here to view the Fall/Winter catalog.

Sailing the High Seas

Got a whale of a tale to tell ya, lads
A whale of a tale or two
'Bout the flapping fish and girls I've loved
On nights like this with the moon above
A whale of a tale and it's all true,
I swear by my tatoo!

I thought I looked kind of like a sailor today ;)

Almost Didn't Make the Cut

This will be quick, American Idol is on a commercial break :)

My husband loved today's outfit, I hate it. I feel and look, uh, BLOATED (maybe it's all of the peach flavored soda I had over the weekend)! I debated for about 20 minutes whether I was posting this pic. Hubby said that it's a great outfit and should definitely be posted. Maybe next time I wear it, I'll be less "full". LOL.

Hubby-Thank you for looking at the outfit and not the bloat ;) Love you!

All Mixed Up

Have you ever thought you were on crunch time to prepare for a meeting, and come to find out you put the date wrong in your calendar, and you really have two more days of prep? Yeah, that was me this morning. I thought I had a meeting at the Chamber of Commerce, but when I got there no one was in the office. I'm in my car thinking WTF?

Since I was so focused on prepping for the meeting, I didn't realize that I never received my reminder email and agenda that I usually get the day prior. I guess it's safe to assume they will arrive tomorrow since my real meeting is Thursday!

No, I'm Not Naked!

I hope that all of you are having a happy New Year so far! Five days in and my year is getting off to a great start :)

It would be safe to say that 90% of the people I encountered today (my husband being one of them) gave me a weird look or just flat out asked, "Do you have anything under that lace shirt?" Ha Ha! The top has a flesh colored cami attached to it. Geez, do people really think I'm that crazy? In the summer, I might try that look out but it's a little too cold right now!

What Happened?

OK so what the heck happened outside? Wasn't it just 65 degrees in VA or was I hallucinating? It's like 50 below right now. Hubby came and had lunch with me today and we walked (like idiots) to a restaurant near my office. OMG! When I got back into the building after lunch I felt like I had been slapped in the face from the cold wind. As soon as I got home I changed into my comfy jammies and robe :) Ahhh, nice and toasty!

Hopefully all of you have a great weekend. Be safe!

Lunch Post

Hopefully everyone is having a fabulous day so far!

Since it's so dang cold out (we're supposed to get snow flurries today), I decided to stay in the office and blog on my lunch break. Currently, I'm munching on a Mushroom, Spinach and Chicken Lean Pocket and a Diet Dr. Pepper. Yum! Oh, Lean Pocket also has another that is my favorite (I think I bought every one in the store) Spinach, Artichoke and Chicken. What? Talk about good stuff. Lean Pocket definitely isn't slacking on the flavor.

Anywho. Here's what I'm wearing today, minus the drippings from my Lean Pocket:

Blue/Greenish Shirt: New York & Company - $20
Black Sparkly Shirt: BCBG Max Azaria - $15
Pinstriped Gray Pants: New York & Company - $18
Faux Snake Belt: New York & Company - $14
Black Shoes: Nine West - $40
Buttlerfly Mother of Pearl Necklace: Cookie Lee - $20 ??

PS - I didn't wear my collar like that outdoors, I wanted to make sure you could see my necklace :)

Yawner In More Ways Than One

Today's outfit was a yawner but I was really comfy and lately that's all that matters! I've been exhausted for the past few weeks. I've been trying to get into bed earlier but somehow I can think of fifty million other things to do besides sleep. I think I'll just have to force myself in bed by 10 p.m.

Pink Sparkly Shrug: H&
M - $10
Black 3/4 Sleeve T: Merona - $
7
Grey Skirt: Banana Republic (Thrifted) - $2
Black Tights: George - $5 (I buy tights in bulk in winter! LOL)
Black Boots: Liz Claiborne - $30 (Are you sick of seeing them yet? Another LOL)

Estimated Cost: $59

Don't leave yet! There's more.

Earlier this week my husband broke to me that he would be traveling to cover a D3 football game on Saturday. Bummer. Well today he kindly let me know that one of his co-workers got him tickets to the Eagles game on Sunday (if you read my post on our family portraits, you know my husband is a HUGE Eagles fan) and because he's off Saturday he has to work tomorrow which is usually his day off.

Last year our deal was when he traveled and I was home alone all weekend, I got a new pair of shoes. Since I've traveled with him a lot this year, I never had the need to bring up our previous agreement. Well, well, well today was the day!...For this special occasion, I negotiated my way into TWO pair of new shoes with an $80 budget. Not bad. The perfect opportunity to find the brown pumps I've been wanting forever.

Nine West had their Buy One Get One 50% OFF sale and I also had a 20% OFF coupon. As long as I stayed within my budget getting an extra pair is fine, right? My total was $83. Woot, woot!

When I got home my husband said, "That's ridiculous that you bought three pairs of shoes in the same color!" Men just don't get it!

A Night On The Town

I normally don't post on the weekends because it's usually just jeans and a cardi, nothing exciting. Well, tonight is a celebration for my hubby's birthday (which was Tuesday) and we have a friend being shipped off to Iraq next week :( So, tonight it will be lots of laughs and lots of drinks! We reserved a room at the Donovan House in DC because I don't think we'll make it home tonight!

I got my bag at a 20% discount because there is a damaged portion of patent leather on the back side and my shirt was 10% less because part of the belt that ties in the back was broken (fixable but broken). Just goes to show check over everything before you buy it and don't be afraid to ask for a percentage off if there isn't another like it in the store!

Update:
Well, last night didn't run as smooth as we would have liked. We went to check into our hotel and were told they overbooked. No worries, we were sent to The Hotel George on Capital Hill and Donovan House foot the bill for our inconvenience. They also had us picked up by a limo service to take us to the restaurant where we had dinner reservations (we were originally going to walk but from the new hotel it would have been a looooong walk).

We had dinner and drinks at Urbana ,
it was swanky but still casual. There were twelve of us and I don't think anyone had complaints about the food or service. The staff was very attentive and the food was deelish. My husband had a pork chop that melted in your mouth--literally! For my app, I had calamari, it was cooked perfectly and was super crispy and for my entree, the Bianco pizza. The Bianco consisted of pecorino romano cheese, baby artichokes and picholine olives. My goodness, that was an awesome pizza! I highly recommend Urbana if you are ever in the DC area, don't forget to call me, I'll go with you :0)

We had a wonderful time and made it home safely :0)

My True Love...Red Pumps

If you've followed my blog even for a couple of weeks, you will realize that I wear red shoes A LOT! There is just something striking about a pair of red shoes. Maybe they just make me feel..Ooh La La/Sexy! I read up on the color red and found out, red suggests confidence and even a dash of danger. I'm definitely much more confident than I was five years ago, thanks to my husband and Danger is my middle name :O) If I could wear red shoes everyday, I would.

Because I tried to be fancy schmancy and use the enhance option in iPhoto, I kind of ruined todays picture. Ah, well. It'll do.

Have a fabulous fashionable weekend!

Suited Up With a New Toy

I'm really excited! I finally got the Blackberry I've been wanting for months. My last phone, which was a pocket PC, totally died on me a few months ago. The touch screen went out, so it was totally useless. I've been lost without my daily calendar at hand and I cringe at the thought of using a day planner. Since I'm frugal (LOL) I bought a Blackberry on eBay. It took the seller a week to ship it and it died within 24 hours. That was the worst eBay experience out of hundreds!

I was having lunch with one of my girlfriends last week and she had the phone I wanted. She told me her husband had one also and was in the process of upgrading to something else. His new phone arrived yesterday and GAVE me his Blackberry which is in superb shape. They're the greatest!

Airhead Anonymous, Here I Come

When I get home from work, my favorite thing to do is change into comfy sweats and a t-shirt. When I finally made it home through the blistery winds in VA, I did my normal ritual. As I was getting ready to download my daily photo onto my blog, I realized that I didn't have time to take a pic this morning. What makes it a tad worse is, I reminded myself to take it as soon as I got home all day! Since I feel really bad about not posting yesterday, I got re-dressed for todays post. I'll try harder tomorrow :O)

Purplish Sweater: Worthington - $9

Lot-O-Pink

If pink could breathe and were a man, I probably would be married to it by now! It is one of my many favorite colors and I was happy that it was finally chilly enough to wear my new blazer.

With fall coming and it getting dark earlier, leaves filling my yard and gusts of wind that can lift a 300 pound man off his feet, I felt refreshed with all of my pink on today :O) Whoever says bright colors are only for spring and summer...poo on you! You'll see me "bright" year round.

Plain Jane

Wow! I've only been gone a week and it feels like months! I apologize for my hiatus. So many things to do, so little time...

My conference last Thursday went very well, but boy did it wear me out! I'm still trying to catch up on sleep, LOL. Since my weekend consisted of lots of sleep and not laundry, I was pretty boring on Monday...

I'm supposed to be off tomorrow but, will be working to tie up any loose ends for Thursday. To give you an idea of how boring my posts would be this week, this is what I'll be wearing...

Classy Josie and The Pussycats

I caught my reflection in a glass door as I was walking through my office today. I said, "Heeey, I look like I could be part of Josie and The Pussycats" My co-worker laughed and agreed. If I had a tambourine, I think I would fit right in!

Unsure

I'm not sure I like how this turned out. It looked muuuuch better on the hanger. Ah, well. I was torn about how to wear this sweater vest. When I bought it I knew I had a small challenge. Since I have a kitten heel on my shoes it looks like my pants are too long. At least I'm comfy :O) I think I failed the mission this time around.

Last night I went to Zumba and it was great to be back in the gym again. Zumba = Lots of Sweat & Calories Burned! If you haven't tried it, you should, its fun.
