Introducing "Sasha"

Sasha is the project that I worked on for the Grand Opening of our new facility. We borrowed Sasha from the local Macy's to showcase the new shirts we had in our REALTOR Store. She came to us naked, and with no head. I got a call from one of my co-workers and she let me know that Sasha needed some help. Needless to say, Sasha has borrowed a few pieces from my wardrobe.

It was pretty funny, because quite a few of our members came in and they said, "April did a great job dressing her." A co-worker finally asked one member, "How did you know April dressed her?" She replied, "The belt gave it away. April wears a belt with everything!" I guess I can now add mannequin dressing to my resume.

OMG! Where The Heck Have You Been?

Hellllllooooo! I hope everyone is doing well. Sorry I've been MIA but I've been extremely busy with work, home and life period. It feels like my day is over before it even begins! What's up with that?

This evening I had a Holiday Gathering for the members of my Association so, I had to look presentable. And this is what I came up with. The boots were comfortable until about half way through the event :( Oh well. Sometimes hotness is painful. LOL.

I saw this blazer at Wal-Mart about three or four months ago and fell in love with the flared sleeves. I thought $30 was pretty steep even though it was fully lined. Again, my patience kicked in and I picked it up on clearance for $15 earlier this week.

Blazer: George - $15
Brown Skirt: New York & Company - $23
Burgundy Patent Boots: Worthington - $40
Scarf: Rouche - $13

Total Estimated Cost: $91

Black Friday: Online Style!

I'm extremely claustrophobic and don't deal well with large crowds, so I've never been one to get out into the black Friday madness. This year, I decided to do my shopping on the biggest shopping day of the year, online style! My mind isn't wrapped around Christmas yet, so everything I bought was for me :)

New York & Company
I've had my eye on these sweaters since they came out. I fell in love with it in the store, it was so soft and has really cute faux jewels on the buttons (I got it in pink & purple). I couldn't see paying $40 for a cardigan so I decided to wait for it to go on sale. And I shrunk my one and only brown skirt so I needed another.

Total: $52 (includes shipping)
Cost Before Promos: $106

Promos I Used: Sweaters were buy one get the second at 75% off and $35 off orders of $75 before 12 noon. My order was at $73 so I added the lotion for $2.99 and it can be someones stocking stuffer :)

I still have 30% off and $20 off coupons to use. Goodness, NY & Co. knows how to keep a penny-pincher happy!

JCPenney
Here are a pair of Worthington boots I've been watching for a while, in my opinion they were overpriced. Again my patience kicked in and I waited! Good thing.

Total: $42 (includes shipping)
Pre-sale Price: $64.99

Promo I Used: Free shipping on orders of $25 or more.

I had a great time shopping from the comfort of my own home :) If you went out shopping, I hope you had a wonderful, safe day and got some great deals!

Congrats Obama!

I'm still in shock about the outcome of the Presidential election. Definitely not in a bad way! I think it's awesome that we all had the chance to live in this moment of history. We now have something to tell our grandchildren about, the days leading up to the election and our feelings during and after the results. EXCITING!

My husband works for the Washington Post and they have run out of papers and had a line out the door and down the block all day. I had a couple of requests from friends wanting me to ask my husband to grab a paper for them. He works at the joint and can't get a paper!

Since I had to work late tonight I wanted to be comfy.

Magenta Sweater: Worthington - $10
Patent Belt: New York & Company - $9
Black Boots: Liz Claiborne - $30

Airhead Anonymous, Here I Come

When I get home from work, my favorite thing to do is change into comfy sweats and a t-shirt. When I finally made it home through the blistery winds in VA, I did my normal ritual. As I was getting ready to download my daily photo onto my blog, I realized that I didn't have time to take a pic this morning. What makes it a tad worse is, I reminded myself to take it as soon as I got home all day! Since I feel really bad about not posting yesterday, I got re-dressed for todays post. I'll try harder tomorrow :O)

Purplish Sweater: Worthington - $9
Black Cuffed Pants: New York & Company - $35

For some reason I kept thinking about the saying for a mullet when I was getting dressed today (Business in the Front, Party in the Back). I had two meetings this morning so had to be presentable. Unsure

I'm not sure I like how this turned out. It looked muuuuch better on the hanger. Ah, well. I was torn about how to wear this sweater vest. When I bought it I knew I had a small challenge. Since I have a kitten heel on my shoes it looks like my pants are too long. At least I'm comfy :O) I think I failed the mission this time around.

Last night I went to Zumba and it was great to be back in the gym again. Zumba = Lots of Sweat & Calories Burned! If you haven't tried it, you should, its fun.

Simple Monday

I've been such a mess lately. It's a miracle if I don't hit snooze twenty times when my alarm goes off. This mornings stats: woke up 45 mins. late, and 20 mins late for work. Ugh! Needless to say, I got dressed very quickly (thank goodness I showered Sunday night)!

I usually have some idea of what I want to wear but, I think I was so into cleaning my closet yesterday that I forgot to layout my clothes for today. Oopps!

Gold Cardigan: Faded Glory - $3
Black Tee: Old Navy - $6
Black Pants: Worthington - $20
Burgundy Patent Shoes: Nine West (via eBay) - $26 (incl. ship.)
Belt: Bought it 3 yrs. ago online, can't remember where though. Sad to say this is actually my first time wearing it. I do remember it cost me $30 because I debated about spending that much on a belt. I loved all of the different colors in it and couldn't resist.

Estimated Cost: $85

Double Trouble

My great girlfriend and co-worker, Airica, was so excited to show me her fab new scarf she bought last week, that she brought it into the office. She pulled it out of the bag and I said, "Hey, I have that!" We laughed hysterically because lately we have been finishing each others sentences and saying the same exact thing at the same time! It's very bizarre. It was no biggie that we both now owned the same scarf, it just meant that we would have to coordinate when the scarf would be worn.

When I was getting dressed this morning, I thought, "I should give Airica a call and tell her not to wear the scarf today." I quickly changed my mind thinking, what are the odds of us both wearing the scarf today? Darn it, I should start playing the lotto! Not only did Airica wear the scarf but, we both had the same color top on and brought the same lunch. Wow!

Yea, it's Friday!

I'm so excited! I'll be celebrating my fourth wedding anniversary with my husband tomorrow (our actual anniversary is September 9). No kids, nice dinner at our favorite restaurant and a quiet house. Oh, I can feel the relaxation already!

Today's outfit looked much better in person. It makes me look a little chubby in the pic. Ah, well.

Welcome Aboard Penny-Pinching Airlines

Today, I felt like I should be walking up and down a narrow aisle serving peanuts and ice cold beverages in the "friendly" skies! I actually love the menswear look. While I felt like a stewardess, I felt powerful at the same time with the red tie and shoes.

Welcome to My World!

First off, please excuse my background. My husband snapped this picture quickly (in the kitchen) before I headed out the door to work!

I am on an extremely tight budget. My husband and I have two toddlers, Alexa, 2 and Nathan, 3, so we really don't have much wiggle room when it comes to our budget. The idea we came up with is we each get a $300 "allowance" each month. We can do what we want with it, with no questions asked. No one needs to guess where a majority of my allowance goes! This pretty much forces me to shop lots of sales! Welcome to the world of the Penny Pinching Princess :)
